Log Print Jobs - "User Popup" Module - "Grrrrrr..."
WatchDog Print Monitor's "User Popup" module retrieves and logs customized information from the user and/or print job for individual or a "Batch" print jobs. The following explains WatchDog Print Monitor's "User Popup's" features and what they can do for you.
- Fully Customizable Interface. The "User Popup" module can be trained to not only retrieve specific information, but how and when it is retrieved from the user and/or print job. Please see the configuration module's features for more information.
- Multiple Print Job Logging. If the user has sent multiple print jobs, information entered can be assigned to any or all print jobs.
- Passive Logging allows the "User Popup" to run in the background, minimized, using minimal resources Users can enter required information at their leisure, minimizing workflow interference.
- Easy to Use Interface. Information is gathered from the user using an easy to use and understand window.
- Laptop Friendly. While "On The Road" WatchDog Print Monitor will log all printing activity locally, until the main database becomes available.
Configuration Module - "Roll Over...."
WatchDog Print Monitor's configuration utility lets you configure what information is retrieved from a print job or user, how it is retrieved, and what is done with the information once it is retrieved. All of this is can be accomplished on a per PC and/or per printer basis. The following explains WatchDog Print Monitor's configuration utility's features and what they can do for you.
- Custom Information can be Gathered from the user for each print job You can customize the "User Popup" to associate as little, or as much information as you need (Job Number, Task Id etc.), from the user, for each print job.
- Logging on a Per Printer Basis. You can selectively monitor any or all of your printers, plotters, copiers, or fax software on your business network.
- Custom Configurations on a Per Printer Basis. You can selectively specify what information the "User Popup" gathers and how it is to be gathered for any or all of your printers, plotters, copiers, or fax software on your business network.
- Selection Values lets you build a customized list of values (Job Number, Task Id etc.). Making it easier for the user to enter required information.
- "Last Used" values are made available to the user when entering information.
- Validation Options. These options customize the "User Popup" so that the user is required to:
1. Select from predefined information or enter an arbitrary value.
2. Allow/Reject blank values.
3. Acknowledge default values. This option requires the user to select some sort of value, even if it is blank.
You can specify whether a user has to enter information, what information they are allowed to enter, how they enter it, or whether they have to enter any information at all, for each piece of print job information you want to gather.- Display Options. You can customize whether the "User Popup" displays information to the user for validation, or is automatically logged to the database.
- Display Information if the Default is Unavailable. If a print job is detected, and certain information, is unavailable, then, and only then, does the "User Popup" prompt the user to enter information.
- Global and/or Local Configurations. You can configure certain PC's to behave differently or control the behavior of your entire network.
- Shared, Individual, or Multiple Databases. You can collect different groups of PC's log information to separate databases, to a shared database, or on a per PC basis.
- Silent Mode Logging. You can gather information without the user being aware of any kind of monitoring at all.
- Monitoring Server Installation. You can install our software on a server, and monitor all printing activity on your business network.
- Allow Users to Cancel. You have the control to require users to log information or allow them to cancel logging.
- Disable All Print Logging option allows you to stop all logging on your network, with the flip of a switch.
- Pause Print Jobs until acknowledged by the user option requires the user to enter information, prior to printing.
- Document Directory Level calculated values enables you to extract information, (i.e.. job name/number) directly from the document path.
- Calculated Values. enables you to only log the information you are really interested in.

Monitoring Module - "What a Hound Dog......"
WatchDog Print Monitor sniffs out almost any print job! The monitoring module tracks and collects information about any and all printing activity. The following explains WatchDog Print Monitor's monitoring module's features and what they can do for you.
- Monitors ANY PC Based Printing. This means you can track any printing, plotting, copying, or fax activity that occurs on your network.
- Captures DOS Based Printing. This gives you the confidence of knowing ALL printing activity is accounted for.
- Monitoring Server or User Based Monitoring means WatchDog Print Monitor can be configured to act as a "Monitoring Server", or to only log print jobs created by the logged on user.
- Track All Printing Activity. Any and all printing can be tracked regardless of when, where, or how somebody might be printing.
- Ignores Deleted/Cancelled Print Jobs. WatchDog will only log print jobs that have actually been sent to the printer. This improves tracking accuracy..
- Access Database logging insures compatibility and flexibility for integrating with many different types of software and hardware.
Reporting Module - "Go Fetch the Paper........"
WatchDog Print Monitor's reporting module can be taught to fetch any printing information that you might want. WatchDog Print Monitor's reporting module offers fully customizable database search and report layout options. You can create a customized printing activity report, for any information you want. The following explains WatchDog Print Monitor's reporting features and what they can do for you.
- Customizable Search Options. You can generate reports on specific information. For example, you can generate a report for only one printer for a specific month.
- Save Report Setup. Once you setup a report to do exactly what you want, you can reuse that format time and again.
- Hierarchical Report Layout Options. You can create detailed reports and totals based on specifically grouped information
- Detailed / Summary Report Options. You can create reports that detail information on each end every print job logged, or only displays summaries of that information.
- Detail Selection Options. When creating a "Detailed" report, you can select what information from each print job should be detailed on your report.
